Before You Invest The Supreme Court heard arguments regarding compensation policies for mutual fund investment advisers. The court appeared reluctant to give judges a role in overseeing the policies, although some justices indicated that courts might have to intervene. The high court’s case focuses on mutual funds, but justices touched on compensation policies of other sectors.
April 30th, 2009 Before You Invest Investors in Morgan Stanley’s Prime Income Trust (XPITX) have seen 2008 losses hit more than 35%. The fund employs a modest amount of leverage–it hasn’t topped 10%–initiated as an opportunistic ploy in April 2008 hasn’t helped, some of the fund’s sector and loan selections have been central to its weakness.
