ALICANTE PRESIDENT ARRESTED | Spain | Leader Newspaper – News, Sport, Advertising, Property, Classifieds – Costa Blanca, Costa del Sol, Costa Calida, Costa de Almeria, Spain: “Police raided the home of Ripoll early on Wednesday morning, where it has found 60,000 euros in cash.Investigators from the Economic Crime Unit and the Prosecutors Office (UDEFA) has also confiscated records from the Orihuela Town Hall early on Wednesday in an operation led by the anti-corruption prosecutor and the court number three of the region.Two of them are named as Manuel Abadia and Antonio Rodríguez MurciaSources close to the Opposition parties have said that the operation ‘could be related to a Zonal Waste Plot.’In recent years Ripoll has been the largest ’scourge’ in his own party which has brought with it numrous confrontations with the President of the Generalitat Francisco Camps.”

VADODARA: In a first-of-its-kind initiative in the state, the city police have started community policing with the help of street-side hawkers. The hawkers have been taken into confidence by the cops to provide them information and also help detect crimes. The project named Hawk Eye aims to reach out to people at ground level for improving police services.”We started the project about 15 days back and we are getting positive response.

Guardian jobs site hacked, 500,000 records stolen – information-age.com – 26 Oct 09

The details of over half a million jobseekers were stolen by hackers who are believed to have compromised the Guardian’s job listing website The Guardian’s job website has told nearly half a million of its users that their personal details are at risk following a “deliberate and sophisticated” criminal data breach, “of which the Guardian is a victim in addition to some of our users.”The incident is currently being investigated by the Police Central e-crime unit and details are scarce.
